Community Health

Margaret Lewis reduced

We welcome Margaret Lewis who accepted the position of Community Health Coordinator under the Recreation and Parks Department. Margaret has her nursing degree from Bradley University and has been employed at the Village of Park Forest Health Department for over seven years. She served as Interim Director of Nurses Plus for the past year and a half until its closure June 30, 2018.

She comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge in a variety of settings, but children and seniors are her passion. The new Community Health Coordinator will make weekly visits to meet with residents living in the area senior buildings, be a resource for health information for the community, planning programs and seminars that promote healthy lifestyles, oversee the annual farmers market, medical equipment loan closet and health inspections for the village.

“I am excited to begin my new journey within the village, assisting the community to live healthier lives in the future”. “Stop by and say hello soon”.

Understanding Grief
Coping with the loss of someone or something you love is one of life’s biggest challenges. Often, the pain of loss can feel overwhelming. You may experience all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions, from shock or anger to disbelief, guilt, and profound sadness. There are healthy ways to cope with the pain that, in time, can ease your sadness and help you come to terms with your loss, find new meaning, and move on with your life.

Join the Park Forest Senior Citizens Advisory Commission and guest speaker from Journey Care on September 11th at noon to discuss “Understanding Grief”. This discussion will include suicide and depression.

Please register at the Recreation & Parks Department or call 708-748-2005 to register over the phone.
